1974 Alfa Romeo T33/TT/12

1974 Alfa Romeo T33/TT/12

This brilliant automobile shown here is a 1974 Alfa Romeo T33/TT/12 (11512-008). The Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 was a series of sports racing prototypes which were raced by the Alfa Romeo factory-backed team from 1967 until 1977. The series consists of the Tipo 33 , the T33/2, the T33/3 , the T33TT3, the T33/4, the T33/TT/12 shown here, and finally the successor to this car, the 33SC12/33SC12 Turbo. Alfa Romeo also created the 33 Stradale (Italian for road-going) in small numbers (18 built) from 1967 until 1969. Of all of the variants of the Tipo 33 created, the T33/TT/12 is certainly one of the most notable, with Alfa Romeo successfully winning the 1975 World Championship For Makes using this model. The team dominated with 7 total wins in 8 straight races. In total, just 12 T33/TT/12 (Telaio Tubolare) cars were built, with this example here wearing it’s Campari-Redlefsen livery that it boasted during the 1975 6th hours of Watkins Glen, where it was entered by the Willi Kauhsen Racing Team. This example is an unrestored T33/TT/12 which made it’s racing debut at the 1974 Monza 1000 km Tropheo Filippo Caracciolo where it was driven to an impressive 1st place finish. For the remainer of the 1974 season, 008 was driven to a 9th place results at the 1974 ADAC 1000 km Rennen Nürburgring, a DNF (did not finish) during the Imola 1000 km, DNA (did not attend) the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a 5th place result at 1000km Zeltweg, a DQ (disqualification) at the 6 hours Watkins Glen, and an 8th place finish at the Can-Am Watkins Glen. This example returned for the 1975 season with a 2nd place result at 1000km Mugello, a 1st place at 800km Dijon, a 1st place at 1000km Monza, a 2nd place at 1000km Spa, 1st at Coppa Florio, 1st at 1000km Nürburgring, 2nd at 1000km Zeltweg, and a 2nd place finish at the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen. The T33/TT/12 008 is powered by a 12-cylinder 3.0L flat engine (500 bhp) designed by Italian racing car and engine designer Carlo Chiti.
