1954 Autobleu 750 Mille Miles

1954 Autobleu 750 Mille Miles

Captured by the talented, and very knowledgeable @pablorivasbao, this is the hardly spoken of, 1954 Autobleu 750 Mille Miles (serial number 195457). Autobleu was a French automotive parts manufacturer which was first founded in the year 1950 by former Amilcar mechanic, racing driver, and president of l'Association Générale des Amicales et Coureurs Indépendants (The French Drivers Association), Maurice Mestivier and former Secretary General of l'AGACI and Peugeot representative, Roger Lepeytre. One of Autobleu’s noteworthy achievements in the automotive industry was the development of performance parts for French cars, with the Renault 4CV being the most common. The company later on supplied parts to Renualt, and by the year 1953, would begin manufacturing custom cars until the year 1957, with a final ever prototype being shown in 1967. The 750 Millie Miles shown here is the only works racing car that the company ever produced, and the brilliant streamlined design was styled by French aeronautical engineer, Marcel Riffard. The car itself was constructed by Carrosserie G.T.R. using a tubular frame. The one-off 750 Millie Miles had it’s first ever race outing at the 1954 Millie Miglia. In that race, the car was driven by French racing driver, Jean-François Sigrand and French racing driver, Jean Bianchi, and ultimately did not finish. Following this, the car was raced again at the 1956 Millie Miglia, where it again did not finish, however, during it’s last ever race outing in period at the 1956 12 Heures Internationales de Reims, the car placed 11th overall driven by Bianchi and French racing driver, Christian Poirot. This example is also believed to have been involved with another race in 1964 known as the Coupe de Belgique. This example was carefully restored back to its original condition by @very_superior_old_cars. After it’s time racing in the 50’s and 60’s, the car was entered in the 2005, 2006, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2020 Mille Miglia.
