2000 BMW Z8

2000 BMW Z8

This is a 2000 BMW Z8, and it’s simply considered to be one of the best overall modern day, limited edition BMW sports cars ever made. The Z8 was designed with the inspiration of the legendary 1956-1959 BMW 507. Sharing all aluminum body-work just as the 507 did, the Z8 is truly a work of art in every way, shape, and form. The Z8 is capable of 395bhp powered by a DOHC 32-Valve V8 engine. Only around 5,703 total units of the Z8 were produced between 2000-2003, and of those only 342 were made in this spec pictured here, Jet Black paint over a Sport Red interior. Of the total production run, of course, that was split internationally, so only a portion of those cars landed inside the US in general. The Z8 model was developed under codename ‘E52’ with a design team lead by American automobile designer, Chris Bangle. The interior for the Z8 model was styled by automotive designer and entrepreneur, Henrik Fisker alongside Scott Lempert. The first appearance of the early beginning stages of the Z8 model occurred during the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show when a concept car known as the ‘Z07’ was displayed as a preview for this exciting new model at the time. The Z07 concept was also a homage to BMW’s iconic 507 model, and eventually, the Z8 was replaced by the high-performance and limited production Alpina Roadster V8 in 2003. Only around 555 units of the Alpina Roadster V8 were produced globally, with 450 of those being exported to the U.S. market, and only 8 to making it to the UK.
