2013 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse

2013 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse

This is the 2013 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, photographed here by @kuntzye, this wonderful example is finished in an unbelievable color combination of ‘Italian Red’ and black over a black leather interior with red stitching. This example was delivered new through Bugatti Gstaad, and it is considered to be one of the earliest Grand Sport Vitesse examples built out of a believed 92 total created for the world. The Veyron model was designed by Slovak automobile designer, Jozef Kabaň and its earliest origins trace back to the year 1998. From 1998 to 1989, design and engineering company Italdesign Giugiaro S.p.A. constructed a series of machines, each featuring a Volkswagen-designed W18 engine and permanent four-wheel drive. The first car arrived at the 1998 Paris Motor Show, and was known as the 2-door EB 118. A four-door variation appeared at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show, named the EB218. The third, and also the most visually similar to the Veyron appeared at the 1999 Frankfurt International Motor Show, known as the 18/3 Chiron. A fourth concept, designed in-house by Hartmut Warkuß, was shown at the 1999 Tokyo Motor Show, the EB 18/4 Veyron. Finally, in 2000, the world got its first glimpse at the Veyron 16/4 at Detroit and Geneva, now featuring four-bank W16 engine architecture. The first Veyron prototype arrived in 2003, and production officially began in 2005. The Veyron EB 16.4 is named after racing driver, Bugatti development engineer, and 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, Pierre Veyron, while the ‘EB’ refers to the companies founder, Ettore Bugatti. The ‘16.4’ is simply the engine's 16 cylinders and quad-turbos. As far as the Grand Sport Vitesse, the model first arrived in 2012 as a targa top variant of the Veyron Super Sport. A fastest open-top production sports car record was set by Chinese racing driver Anthony Liu at Volkswagen Group's proving grounds in Ehra-Lessien with a top speed of 254mph.
