This amazing machine shown here is a wonderful 1952 Buick Super Estate Wagon (Model 59) in an eye-catching shade of green with a gorgeous red interior. The Buick Estate nameplate was utilized by the Buick division of General Motors from 1940 until 1964 and again from 1970 until 1996. The Estate model from 1950-1953 made use of the Super and Roadmaster ‘C’ platform, and due to the upkeep that was required to ensure that the genuine wood veneer panels were in good condition, there was a lack of paneling for this model year. The wood paneling for the 1952 model now simply surrounds the windows, while older models had paneling on even the doors as well. Multiple different engine options were available for the 1950s Estate models ranging from a 264 cu in (4.3 L) Fireball Straight-eight engine OHV to a 364 cu in (6.0 L) Fireball V8 OHV, however, every model built during this time period used a 2-speed Dynaflow automatic transmission. The Super series was the most popular Buick line for the 1952 model year, and during this year, 16 total colors were available from Buick. Some standard options included a flexible spoke steering wheel, foamtex seat cushions, and directional signals. For the 1952 model year, it’s reported that just 1,641 Estate models were built for the entire world, making this quite a rare car by todays standards. Have you ever seen one of these in person? Certainly a unique car, and something you’d only ever expect to see at the fantastic @greenwichconcours event!
