1931 Cadillac 370-A V-12 Roadster by Fleetwood

This spectacular automobile shown here is a 1931 Cadillac 370-A V-12 Roadster by Fleetwood (chassis 10-894, engine 10-00974, body 9) which was sold by @rmsothebys during their 2023 Hershey Auction. This 370-A V-12 Roadster is 1 of approximately 10 total survivors of its kind in the world with Fleetwood body styling, and this particular example retains all of its original coachwork. This V-12 Roadster is an exceptional and dynamic open-top car featuring a powerful twelve-cylinder engine, debuting in its inaugural production year. A striking and uncommon performance vehicle that set the standard for its era. The early 1930s marked a pinnacle for Cadillac during its celebrated Classic Era. In 1931, the brand unveiled its groundbreaking V-12 lineup, bridging the space between its V-8 and V-16 offerings and solidifying its dominance in the luxury automobile market. This example is equipped with its original 368-cubic-inch twelve-cylinder engine delivering 135 horsepower and 285 pound-feet of torque which is paired with a precise three-speed manual gearbox featuring selective synchromesh. This charming Caddy features shimmering metal wheels with sleek spokes and hub covers, paired with vintage details like twin side-mounted spares, a fantastic hood ornament, and auxiliary headlights. Originally delivered new to Don Lee Cadillac in October of 1931, this example has since been proven to have been delivered from the factory with a vibrant ‘Apple Green’ and black finish with matching green wire wheels, black leather seats, with dual side-mounted spares. The car was restored to its current finish post 1980 after passing through various owners, and was set on display in a museum until 2008. This exciting V-12 Roadster sold for a hammer price of $187,000 in Hershey in 2023, and easily represents one of Cadillac’s finest offerings of the 1930s.
