Truly an incredible machine both inside and out, this is the 2016 David Brown Speedback Silverstone Edition, a unique creation developed by British manufacturer of limited edition automobiles, David Brown Automotive. The company was founded by British businessman David Brown in the year 2013, and their very first model arrived in 2014, the David Brown Speedback. The limited-production grand tourer was first ever revealed in April of 2014 at the "Top Marques" show in Monaco, and was constructed on the all-aluminium JLR D6a platform. The basis of this interesting automobile is a Jaguar XKR (XK150), and as a result, the Speedback utilizes its 5.0L Twin-scroll supercharged AJ-V8 engine. The Speedback offers styling which is reminiscent of the Aston Martin DB5 and DB6, and was designed by former Jaguar Land Rover designer, Alan Mobberley. Each Speedback is developed using traditional coach-building methods which consists of hand beaten aluminium body panels which are then rolled over a wheeling machine. A revised Speedback GT was introduced at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, and one year later, at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, this special-edition variant was announced. The Speedback Silverstone Edition is officially the 3rd special edition car produced by David Brown, and is a celebratory model that represents the companies first anniversary of their move to a new 18,000 square foot facility and headquarters at Silverstone Park in April of 2017. The 5.0-litre Jaguar AJ-V8 engine has been enhanced for this model, now boasting 601hp, and the rear suspension has also received some improvements over the Speedback GT. The Speedback GT Silverstone Edition is finished in a bespoke ‘fly by night’ paint finish, which includes a fading 'Black Night' stripe. The interior consists of ‘antique’ tan leather with brogueing and fluting to the seats, and is loaded with Kvadrat Remix fabrics and 'Scorched Ebony Macassar' wood veneers.
