1994 Dodge Venom

1994 Dodge Venom

This unique car might have slipped your mind over the years, but today we’re diving into its story and all the details behind it. Shown here is the 1994 Dodge Venom, a fully functional prototype built on the platform of a 1994 Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth Neon. Finished in a color known as ‘Venom Yellow Green Pearl’, the Venom certainly boasts similar lines and styling cues from the Dodge Viper, and perhaps was even more exotically styled at the time. In replace of the Neon’s typical front-wheel drive platform, the Venom was given a rear-wheel drive layout. Another change was the underneath the hood, rather than using the Neon’s powertrain, the Venom was reportedly equipped with a 3.5 L EGE V6 directly out of a Dodge Intrepid, which is said to be capable of producing around 245hp. The Chrysler PL platform of the Neon was modified slightly for the Venom Concept as one of the main goals of the car was to demonstrate Dodge’s ‘Cab-Forward’ design into a two-seater sports car formula. Other design cues that were used on the Venom and are also seen on other cars include the Viper-style side scoop, Coronet-style handle-bar grille, and a rear end similar to both the Challenger and Barracuda. Despite making multiple successful appearances throughout the international auto show circuit in the 90’s, the Venom was ultimately never put into production, leaving just one singular example to be left today. Unlike most concepts, the Venom toured various auto exhibitions for years after it’s debut, while most concepts of the era were often shown once or twice and then never seen again. It’s safe to say Dodge fans wanted this one to become a reality, what do you think about the Dodge Venom?
