1965 Ferrari 275 GTB

1965 Ferrari 275 GTB

This very special car shown here is the 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB (275cc ‘Gran Turismo Berlinetta’) Speciale (chassis 06437), a one-of-a-kind creation finished in a color known as ‘Acqua Verde Metallizzato’. This car was built by the Carrozzeria Pininfarina coachbuilding company for it’s founder, Battista "Pinin" Farina. In 1940, Enzo Ferrari produced and displayed his first ever race-car, the 1940 AAC 815, but due to the war, it saw little completion, and only 2 total were produced. This car was also not considered a Ferrari-badged model. In 1943, the Ferrari factory moved to Maranello, where it has remained ever since. The factory was actually bombed during the war twice, once in 1944 and again in 1945, and was subsequently rebuilt, this time featuring a road-car production department. The first Ferrari badged car was then built two years after the war, the 1947 Ferrari 125 S, in only two units. Fast forward 20 years to 1967. Ferrari has now resurrected itself as a public corporation under the name SEFAC S.p.A (Società Esercizio Fabbriche Automobili e Corse), and despite Enzo never wanting to create road cars, this car eventually came along. Chassis 06437 was the second ever 275 chassis built, and it’s the only 275 to be clothed in-house by Pininfarina, and not by Italian automobile design and coachbuilding company, Scaglietti, like the rest of the production cars. Subtle changes include a new grille, smaller bumpers, a new diffuser, and a number of custom knobs and switches can be found within the beautiful leather interior. All together there were multiple models under the 275 series (275 GTB, 275 GTS, 275 GTB/4 & 275 GTS/4 NART Spyder), but the 275 GTB Speciale is the true definition of a one-off. In 2018, during a Gooding & Company auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, chassis 06347 was sold for a whopping price of $8,085,000.
