1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 “Daytona”

1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 “Daytona”

This car shown here is in an echelon of it’s own in terms of rarity, and special configurations, this is the 1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 “Daytona” (chassis 13929) owned by @thestraylightcollection and seen at the 2025 @greenwichconcours, one of only a few examples to have been supplied by the factory on wire wheels and the 2nd US example overall. This example is one of the approximately 1,284 examples of the 365 GTB/4 Daytona developed from 1968-1973. The 365 GTB/4 model in general is a distinguished model amongst Ferrari aficionados and automotive enthusiasts around the world. The model was introduced for the first time ever during the 1968 Paris Auto Salon as a replacement to Ferrari’s 275 GTB/4 model. The ‘Daytona’ earned it’s nickname over the years as a homage to Ferrari’s 1-2-3 finish in February of 1967 at the 24 Hours of Daytona, however, this is not actually an official given to the model by Ferrari. The 365 Daytona was available for sale via either a ‘Berlinetta’ or ‘Spyder’ configuration (365 GTB/4 and GTS/4), and Italian automobile designer and CEO of Fioravanti Srl, Leonardo Fioravanti was the stylist responsible for the design work. Being that this car is a 1970 model, it’s clearly !not equipped with the classic retractable pop-up twin headlights, which was an update that came in 1971 due to new U.S. safety regulations at the time. Unveiled to the world at the 1968 Paris Auto Salon, the Ferrari 365 GTB/4, famously nicknamed the “Daytona” by enthusiasts, was powered by a formidable 4.4-liter (4,390.35 cc) Tipo 251 Colombo V12 engine, an evolution of Ferrari’s legendary V12 lineage, which delivered an impressive 347 horsepower, cementing its reputation as one of the most exhilarating and high-performing grand tourers of its era.
