1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4

1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4

This car we are presenting today is in a category of it’s own in terms of rarity and uniqueness, and that’s this stunning 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 by Pininfarina finished in a paint color known as ‘Grigio Argento’ over a ‘Nero Cogolo’ interior. This Ferrari is one of only around 500 total examples of the GTC/4 model built for the entire world from 1971 until 1973, of which only a fraction were painted in a color such as this one shown here. The 365 GTC/4 (Type F101) is a 2+2 grand touring model, and most of the 500 examples built were originally sent to the US. That resulted in only 32 right-hand drive examples of this model to be produced for the world. The GTC/4 was developed on the chassis of the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 model that was produced from 1968 until 1973, and features bodywork designed by the talented stylist Filippo Sapino for the iconic Italian design studio, Pininfarina. Powering this car is a monstrous Tipo F 101 AC 000 Colombo 4.4L V12 engine which is capable of producing around 335bhp, however, for US-spec cars like this one, the engine only produced about 316bhp due to the engine modifications made in order to comply with US Federal emission standards at the time. At just around 3,197lbs, the GTC/4 is a rather light and nimble car, which is a surprise due to it’s focus on maintaining a comfortable driving experience. The GTC/4 was essentially designed to be a more civilized and less visceral driving experience than the 365 GTB/4 on which it was based on. All Ferrari’s come with a unique story, and offer intriguing options and features, however, this car shown here definitely stands out from the crowd! This particular example was completed by the factory in July of 1972, and was originally delivered to William F. Harrah’s U.S. West Coast Ferrari. Most recently, the car appeared for sale at auction in March of 2022 during a Bonhams auction in Amelia Island, Florida. What do you think about this 365 GTC/4?
