1997 Ferrari F50

1997 Ferrari F50

This car shown here is a true icon, chassis number 302 of just 349 built for the entire world, the 1997 Ferrari F50! When it comes to rare Ferraris this happens to be one of the rarest of them all. The Ferrari F50 (Type F130) is a is a mid-engine sports car that was produced from 1995 until 1997 in just 349 total units for the world. The F50 was designed by Italian car designer, Lorenzo Ramaciotti and Italian designer, Pietro Camardella for Italian car design firm and coachbuilder, Pininfarina, and underneath the hood is a 4.7L DOHC 65 degree Tipo F130B V12 engine that develops just around 512bhp. The design of the F50 is an evolution of the 1989 Ferrari Mythos concept car, and the engine used is based upon the 3.5 L V12 used in the 1990 Ferrari 641 Formula One racing car. The engine of the F50 was also previously used before in another sports prototype race car built by Ferrari known as the 333 SP during the American IMSA GT Championship in 1994. Similar to the Motorsport variation of the Ferrari F40 known as the F40 LM, Ferrari collaborated with Italian race car manufacturer, Dallara, and race car development, engineering and preparation company, Michelotto Engineering SpA in order to create a racing variation of the F50 known as the F50 GT. A total of just 3 F50 GT’s were produced after Ferrari ultimately pulled the plug on the project leaving 3 incomplete chassis and and 3 fully built road cars. All of the standard F50 cars were developed in Maranello, Italy, using a central carbon fiber tub, and of the total production, it’s believed that 302 F50’s were painted in Rosso Corsa, 31 were Giallo Modena, 8 were Rosso Barchetta, 4 were Argento Nurburgring, and 4 were Nero Daytona.
