2005 Ferrari 575 SuperAmerica

2005 Ferrari 575 SuperAmerica

This is the 2005 Ferrari 575 SuperAmerica (ZFFGT61AX50143918) finished in ‘Grigio Silverstone’ over a ‘Bordeaux’ interior with ‘Grigio Chiaro’ accents, and it’s one of just 559 examples built for the entire world. To get a better understanding of how special this car is, you first need to understand the history of the ‘SuperAmerica’ name. Ferrari first ever introduced this name onto one of it’s models in 1955 with the Ferrari 410 SuperAmerica in an effort to expand on Ferrari’s already extremely successful import market into the United States. Only 37 examples of the 410 SuperAmerica were completed. As for this car pictured here, the story of the 575 SuperAmerica must first begin with the introduction of the Ferrari 575M Maranello (Type F133) in 2002, essentially the replacement for the 550 Maranello. The 575 was designed by Italian car designer Lorenzo Ramaciotti at Pininfarina S.p.A. & is a two-seat, two-door, grand tourer with a powerful naturally aspirated V12. From 2002-2006, Ferrari produced around 2,056 examples of the 575M, but in 2005 Ferrari announced the 575 SuperAmerica (this car). The 575 SuperAmerica is a limited production (559 units) convertible variant of the standard 575M. One of the most unique design elements of the 575 SuperAmerica is the retractable electrochromatic glass panel roof which was manufactured in collaboration with French glass specialist Saint Gobain. The 575 SuperAmerica is powered by a 5.7 L Tipo F133E/G V12 engine that produces a brutal 533hp. In 2005, Ferrari was marketing the 575 SuperAmerica as the ‘Fastest Convertible Car’ with a top speed of 199mph. This specific SuperAmerica is also equipped with the optional and desirable ‘Fiorano Handling Package’ which improved suspension, braking and steering response, amongst a number of other things as well. Truly a unique automobile, and one that was recently offered for sale by @rmsothebys during their 2022 Ft. Lauderdale Auction, which we were honored to be able to attend as media!
