2006 Ferrari P4/5

2006 Ferrari P4/5

This is the 2006 Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina & Glickenhaus (135441), a one-off model created for the American film producer, director, financier, and of course, collector of some of the world’s finest automobiles, James Glickenhaus. The car started its life as a 2003 Ferrari Enzo (135441), but was re-designed and re-imagined by Italian car design firm and coachbuilder, Pininfarina to resemble a modern take on 1960’s P-series race car styling at the request of Mr. Glickenhaus. The technical design process took place at the Pininfarina Aerodynamic and Aeroacoustic Research Centre in Grugliasco. Pininfarina developed over 200 specifically designed components for this project, and the exterior of the car was developed entirely using carbon fiber reinforced plastic. The P4/5 features a 333SP-inspired nose, 512S-inspired rear window, white-enameled F1 exhaust tips, improved air conditioning, butterfly-wing doors and much more. The styling is meant to resemble the overall shape of the Ferrari 330 P4, of which only 1 of the original 4 cars still remains, chassis 0856. The P4/5 has higher downforce, better balance, and weighs around 600 pounds less than the standard Enzo model. While the exterior styling was created by automotive stylist Jason Castriota, the interior was the work of Mr. Glickenhaus himself. The interior of the P4/5 was decked out with an iPod nano stereo, a tablet PC, and a custom interior with black mesh and red leather seats. Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, former chairman of Ferrari, decided the P4/5 deserved to wear the Ferrari badge upon seeing the completed project, which meant initially it wasn’t fully approved by Ferrari. But after falling in love, James Glickenhaus & Pininfarina collaborated with Ferrari to come up with the official name “Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina”.
