2007 ItalDesign VAD.HO

2007 ItalDesign VAD.HO

This is the 2007 ItalDesign VAD.HO concept, a unique design which was created by Italdesign-Giugiaro studios, and serves as a laboratory vehicle that was purpose-built to experiment with new innovative technologies. The acronym ‘VAD.HO’ is a reference to the the name of the Vadò industrial area in Moncalieri, Italy, which has been home to the Italdesign Giugiaro headquarters since 1974. The VAD.HO experiential design vehicle was styled by Fabrizio Giugiaro, the son of Italian automotive designer, and founder of ItalDesign, Giorgetto Giuigiaro, and demonstrates a myriad of different technologies and design elements that simply aren’t seen on many other cars whatsoever. One notable design feature of the VAD.HO concept car is the presence of two joysticks are fixed on the armrests of the pilot, which allow you to maneuver and operate the vehicle and the programs built within. Entry into the VAD.HO is through a unique set of integrated doors/domes which open and lift in a ‘gull-wing’ style. Once inside the VAD.HO, you’ll be greeted by an IT console that featured a series of liquid crystal displays that were designed for use as aeronautic applications (EFIS - Electronic Flight Information Systems). Similar to a driving simulator or a video game, the cockpit of the VAD.HO is simply video monitors that display vital information to the driver. Two monitors which are built into the back of the drivers seat allow the rear passenger to access much of the same data and information as the driver. The upholstery materials used for the VAD.HO consist of metallic and phosphorescent opaque grey tones. Naturally, the VAD.HO demonstrates many visual ItalDesign-Giugiaro styling characteristics, including the asymmetric transparent dome, which sets this car apart from really anything else out there in terms of distinctiveness and individuality.
