1991 JaguarSport XJR-15

1991 JaguarSport XJR-15

This is the 1991 JaguarSport XJR-15, chassis 007-RACE, a car that once wore both number 07, and number 17 during it’s period racing history, and 1 of just 18 (16 + 2 backups) total cars that were built for a one-make racing series known as a the Jaguar Intercontinental Challenge. The JaguarSport XJR-15 was one of the first road-cars ever developed entirely out of carbon fiber. Chassis 007-RACE also once used a large wing that generated large amounts of downforce during it’s brief time in Historic Group C racing, and today, it’s owned by @jaguarsupercardriver, and is finished in the same livery that was shown on the original Silverstone launch car. In it’s racing history as car number 07, driven by Cor Euser at the Jaguar Intercontinental Challenge, chassis 007-RACE finished 10th at Jaguar Monaco, 2nd at Jaguar Spa, and the car did not finish the race at Jaguar Silverstone. Following this, the car was subsequently raced in Historic Group C by Bryan Wingfield's team, wearing number 17. The chassis of the XJR-15 is mechanically based on the Le-Mans winning Jaguar XJR-9 race car, which was designed by Tony Southgate. A team known as Tom Walkinshaw racing (TWR), with support from Jaguar, put together a crew led by Andy Morrison, consisting of names such as respected designer Peter Stevens, and engineers Eddy Hinley, Dave Fullerton and Jim Router. After Jaguar and TWR’s success at the 1988 24-Hours of Le Mans, and becoming intrigued by the XJ220 concept shown at the 1988 British Motor Show, founder of (TWR), Tom Walkinshaw, would then create an XJR-9/XJR-12 inspired road-car under a new subsidiary called ‘JaguarSport’, simply one of the greatest cars in the world. Track our progress of hunting down each and every XJR-15 produced on our registry page, @jaguarsportxjr15registry.
