This is a beautiful yellow 1992 Lamborghini Diablo Coupe (NLA12641), 1 of approximately 2,908 Diablo examples built between 1990 and 2001 (all variants), 1 of just around 415 (give or take a few) total built for the 1992 model year, and 1 of a rather small batch in this exact specification. This particular example is believed to be currently residing somewhere in Monaco. The name ‘Diablo’ itself is derived from a fighting bull that battled with ‘El Chicorro’ in the year 1869. The Diablo was built to replace the Countach, and in its earliest stages of development in 1985, it was known as ‘Project 132’. The Diablo was created by a team of engineers and technicians working under the direction of Director of Technical Development, Luigi Marmiroli. Test driver @moccia_gino was responsible for much of the test driving for the Diablo development at Fiat’s Nardó test track in Italy. The Diablo was the first production Lamborghini to achieve 200mph, and many areas of the Diablo were constructed with carbon fiber materials. Marmiroli spent approximately 50 hours testing in the Saint-Cyr l’Ecole wind tunnel in western Paris, resulting in a drag coefficient of 0.31. The initial design work for the Diablo model was the work of Italian car designer Marcello Gandini, however, when Chrysler acquired the company from Patrick Mimran in 1987, the Diablo’s design development shifted to a team at Chrysler under the direction of American designer, Tom Gale. Gandini’s initial design proposal was translated into Claudio Zampoll’s Cizeta V16t. This particular example was completed on January 14th of 1992, and was under factory warranty from February of 1992 until February of 1993.
