The Diablo was produced by Lamborghini from 1990-2001 (2,884 produced), and it’s famously known as being the first production Lamborghini to hit 200mph (buy one now before it’s too late). The name Diablo means “Devil” in Spanish, and that suits this 1994 Lamborghini Diablo VT’s (chassis 12193) bright red ‘Diablo Rosso’ paint over a full tan leather interior. Not only was the Diablo the first production Lamborghini to hit 200mph, but also this specific variant, the Diablo VT (introduced in 1993), was the first all-wheel-drive supercar Lamborghini ever made. The Diablo was built to replace the Countach (1974-1990, 1,983 produced), and in it’s earliest stages of development in 1985 it was known as ‘Project 132’ by the Lamborghini factory. The Diablo was named after a famous menacing fighting bull raised by the Duke of Veragua in the 19th century. The Diablo was first shown to public in 1990 on the 21st of January in Monte Carlo. The Diablo was better equipped all-around than the previous Countach model, and even more so the Diablo VT variant in specific. The VT (shown here) was first introduced in 1993 and differentiated itself from the standard Diablo in numerous ways, most notably, with the addition of all-wheel-Drive. Some improvements of the VT (standing for vicious traction) included new front air intakes below the driving lamps to improve brake cooling, four-piston brake calipers, power steering, minor engine refinements and it also directed up to 25% of the cars torque to the front wheels in order to aid with traction during real wheel slip. The cars performance is just as impressive today as it was 26 years ago. The Diablo VT produces 529hp from a 5.7L V12 engine, and could achieve a top speed of 202mph. Of all the Diablos produced only about 400-500 of them were VT coupes like this one.
