2009 Lamborghini Murcielago LP-640

2009 Lamborghini Murcielago LP-640

The Murcielago is easily one of my absolute favorite Lamborghini models, and this 2009 Lamborghini Murcielago LP-640 Coupe finished in ‘Bianco Isis’ over a ‘Marrone Janus / Beige Myron’ interior is certainly one unique specification overall. As the successor the the Lamborghini Diablo, Lamborghini produced the Murciélago as the company’s flagship V12 model from 2001 until 2009, and the car was designed by Peruvian-born Belgian Luc Donckerwolke, who served as Lamborghini's head of design from 1998 to 2005. With just about 4,099 total examples built across all variants, the LP-640 variant (shown here), was officially introduced to the world during the 2006 Geneva Motor Show. When the car was unveiled in Sant’Agata in 2001, the first generation Murciélago was powered by a 6.2L naturally aspirated V12 engine that produced 572 horsepower and allowed for a top speed of around 205mph. In 2006, Lamborghini revealed an updated variant of their newly-introduced Murciélago model called the Murciélago LP 640, which is the car shown here. The ‘LP’ in the name indicates an alphanumeric designation which indicated the engine's orientation (Longitudinale Posteriore), and the 640 indicated the updated power output. The engine displacement for the LP 640 has now been upgraded to a 6.5L V12 that produces 631hp and also allows for greater overall power and performance. The exterior of the LP-640 model also received an extensive facelift with a newly updated front and rear fascias, and newly added asymmetrical side air intakes. Also new for the LP 640 was the single outlet exhaust system as opposed to the dual pipes from the previous generation, as well as a new modified suspension, revised programming, and an updated clutch. On the interior, the dashboard was updated with a new integrated stereo system and increased headroom overall. What do you think of this unique Murciélago coupe?
