1983 Lancia 037 Stradale

1983 Lancia 037 Stradale

This very special car shown here is a stunning example of a 1983 Lancia 037 Stradale, finished in a very rare shade of ‘Blu Lagos’, which is the same color that is found on the Lancia Delta ‘Blu Lagos Edition’ cars. The 037 Stradale, which is Italian for “road” or road-was produced by Italian car manufacturer and a subsidiary of FCA Italy S.p.A., Lancia from 1982-1984. The 037 Rally made its competition debut at the 1982 Rally Costa Smeralda in Italy where two cars were entered but both were retired due to gearbox problems. Prior to this, Lancia developed 200+ road-going examples in order to comply with Group B regulations. The entire 037 project was developed in collaboration between Italian coach building company Pininfarina, Italian racing and road car maker and performance division, Abarth, and Italian race car manufacturer, Dallara. The 037 project manager was Italian automobile engineer, Sergio Limone. This example received it’s spectacular blue paintwork during a thorough restoration that took place in 2018, which was completed by Autoelite Orlandini in Modena, Italy. This captivating Group B rally homologation car is believed to be one of the lowest mileage examples in the world, with just under 10,000 KM on the odometer, and was sold by @joemacari!

How many made? Just 207 examples of the 037 Stradale were produced.

Engine: The road-going variants were powered by an Abarth developed, 2.0L DOHC supercharged 4-cylinder engine that produces around 205 horsepower. Some 037 Stradale’s were modified to what’s known as the Evolution 1 or Evolution 2 racing specification. This upgrade included special pistons and rods, crankshaft, a lightweight flywheel, alloy pulleys and more. In Evolution 1 form the engine is capable of 290-315hp and in Evolution 2 form the 037 is capable of up to 325-345hp horsepower.

Debut: The 037 was first ever shown at the 1982 Turin Motor Show. The racing variant on which this car is based on made it’s first race debut at the 1982 Rally Costa Smeralda in Italy.
