2012 Lexus LFA

2012 Lexus LFA

This is the wildly rare 2012 Lexus LFA, finished in ‘Slate Blue’ (9K3), chassis 0239, making it the only Lexus LFA in the world finished in this color. As you may already know, the Lexus LFA was first introduced as a coupe-only model in January of 2005 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan as a design study with no plans for production. Two years later in 2007, Lexus revealed another slightly re-worked LFA Concept, & test mules were beginning to be spotted testing at the Nürburgring. This lead most to believe the LFA was set for production, although at this time, it was still not yet confirmed. In 2008, Lexus revealed a Roadster-variant of the Lexus LFA designated the LFA Roadster or LFA-R at the the North American International Auto Show. After years of speculation & curiosity, the production variant of the Lexus LFA was finally announced and unveiled as a coupe-only model in October of 2009 on the first press day of the 41st biennial Tokyo Motor Show. As for this particular example, of the approximately 500 total examples that were produced for the global markets, only 1 of those examples were finished in Slate Blue, which is this car shown here. This 1 of 1 Slate Blue Lexus LFA features a full white and black leather interior, and is sitting upon a set of Light Premium Metallic Wheels. This Lexus LFA (241) is said to reside somewhere in the Southern California area, and is certainly a rarity amongst not only just Lexus LFA examples, but all cars in general! The LFA was designed by chief stylist, Kengo Matsumoto, and production lasted from December 2010 until December 2012. Of the sixteen Toyota-owned factories in Japan, the LFA was constructed at the Motomachi plant. Japanese business executive and the current president of Toyota Motor Corporation, Akio Toyoda, saw the LFA was a way to create a global icon for the Lexus brand.
