2001 Lotec Sirius

2001 Lotec Sirius

This is the 2001 Lotec Sirius, a meticulously developed one-off monster of a car which was developed by a company called Lotec, first founded in 1962 by former Group C2 championship race winner, Kurt Lotterschmid. Since 1962, Lotec has specialized in modification (mainly to Porsche and Mercedes-Benz vehicles), and also construction of their own race cars, such as the Lotec C1000. This car is Lotec’s first ever ‘production’ vehicle, which they called the Sirius. The Sirius was created both for and by the company’s owner, Kurt Lotterschmid and took a total of 3 years to complete. Make no mistake, this car is not a clay model, nor just a kit-car, the Sirius is a bespoke creation thats powered by the same exact Mercedes-sourced V12 engine found in the famous Pagani Zonda C12 S. While the Sirius was a high-performance monster, it was still quite civilized, offering amenities such as air conditioning & power-steering. To bring this impressive car to a halt, a Brembo ABS servo assisted disc brake system was implemented. The company intended to produce around 5 total Sirius per year, but this endeavor ultimately never materialized. In the year 2009 Lotec announced an ‘updated’ variant of their original Sirius model, which was planned to be an enhanced example that could compete with heavyweights of that era such as the Koenigsegg CCX & the Bugatti Veyron. It’s believed that Lotec has not followed up on that idea since then, leaving this car shown here to be one-of-a-kind. The actual layout of the Sirius itself is a 2-door, mid-engined design that sends all of it’s immense power to the cars rear wheels. The interior of the Sirius is revealed after opening it’s beautiful ‘scissor-style’ doors. While it’s overall quite a simplistic design, it’s all very-much functional.
