2016 McLaren P1 GT

2016 McLaren P1 GT

Shown here is the fascinating 2016 McLaren P1 GT (SBM12ABB9FW100033), 1 of just around 4 total GT examples built by Lanzante Limited out of around 448 total examples of the P1 model believed to have been built across all variants with prototypes included. The P1 was first ever introduced in September of 2012 and was designed by both Robert Melville (McLaren’s former design director) & American/British automobile designer Frank Stephenson. The P1 is considered one of the ‘holy trinity’ hypercars alongside both the LaFerrari & Porsche 918 Spyder. Before actual production, around 21 P1 prototypes were produced consisting of 13 XP cars (experimental prototypes), 5 VP cars (validation prototypes), and 3 PP cars (pre-production units). In addition to this, McLaren built 59 GTR versions, 6 LM versions, and 375 production road cars. This car originally started out as the 33rd of the 59 GTR examples produced, but was later converted by @lanzantelimited to become the 1st of 4 total P1 GT conversions built by the company. This example is finished in a specification inspired by the McLaren F1 GT chassis 056 and is shown here in Silverstone Green with black carbon fiber accents over a dark green leather/cream Alcantara interior. The GTR variant on which this car is based is a resurrection of the ‘GTR’ name is celebration of the companies 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans victory. The GTR variant features a race-prepared suspension, a massive fixed rear wing, and an exclusively designed exhaust made of titanium and inconel, plus much more. The GT conversion includes stretched out “long tail” style bodywork, a larger rear wing, a quad exhaust system, and a number of other modifications.
