2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet

2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet

When it comes to rarity, there aren’t many that are comparable to this car shown here. This is a 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet, number 38 of just 80 total examples built for the 2006 model year, one of the most special and limited Mercedes-Benz production vehicles of all time. This example is finished in ‘Iridium Silver’ over black leather and grey Alcantara interior, and is powered by a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Some of the factory options included on this highly limited CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet consist of DTM-inspired bodywork, a black soft top roof, carbon fiber bucket seats, an adjustable coilover suspension, Brembo brakes, and much, much more. The CLK DTM AMG was developed by Mercedes-Benz in just 100 total coupe units, and 80 total cabriolet examples for the world, and the reason behind the project was to celebrate the successes of Bernd Schneider during the 2003 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) racing series. During this series, a CLK DTM racing car based upon the C209/A209 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class won the 2003 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season. The racing version was much more visceral, a full blown 2-door DTM touring car. This special machine is a road-going variant with DTM-inspired bodywork, and loads of carbon fiber elements such as the rear wing, was only made available for the European market. In every way shape and form, the DTM AMG is a street-legal version of the race car put Mercedes-Benz at the top of the podium in 2003. Both the Roadster and the Coupe DTM AMG are built mechanically and cosmetically identical, aside from the convertible roof of course, and it’s simply a car that deserves more attention when it comes to rare automobiles!
