This car right here is not your average Mercedes Benz. This is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz AMG Black Series finished in ‘Designo Mystic White’ over a black leather & Alcantara interior. The first model to be introduced within the ‘SLS’ lineage was the base SLS AMG coupe first ever shown in 2009 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The SLS AMG is powered by a 6.2L (M159 E 63) V8 engine that produces 563 horsepower and allows for a top speed of around 196mph, making it a very impressive vehicle overall. Multiple variants followed subsequently after the SLS AMG’s debut, including the slightly more powerful SLS AMG GT & also the SLS AMG Roadster. For those seeking something more raw & aggressive, at the 2012 LA Auto Show, Mercedes Benz unveiled their high-performance variant of the SLS AMG, known as the ‘Black Series’. The ‘Black Series’, such as the car shown here is everything the standard SLS AMG was, plus much more. The track-focused Black Series was heavily inspired by the race variant of the SLS AMG, the SLS AMG GT3. On top of just being more exclusive, the SLS AMG Black Series offers major improvements in terms of performance, now featuring an enhanced version of the 6.2L V8 found in the base model, producing an uprated 622hp. The use of carbon fiber in the body panels, mechanical components, and spaceframe of the SLS AMG Black Series (plus the use of a titanium exhaust system) allows this car to weigh 150lbs less than the standard model. Overall, the Black Series can be considered by some to be one of the best projects to leave the Mercedes-AMG headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany. How many made? With only around 354 total SLS AMG Black Series examples produced for the entire world, only 132 of those cars landed in the United States. Of that 132 examples, only 32 were painted in ‘Designo Mystic White’.
