This next car shown here easily features one of the most radical designs ever presented here on @RareCarsOnly, and it’s a machine that deserves much more attention than it gets! This is the surreal looking 1967 O.S.I. (Officine Stampaggi Industriali) Bisiluro Silver Fox, and it’s famous for it’s catamaran-style design offering a unique ‘bi-torpedo’ (Bisiluro) cabin situation that makes it appear to have came from possibly a different planet. There was an actual reasoning behind this unprecedented design, but first, let’s talk more about the company itself that created this machine. Officine Stampaggi Industriali was founded in 1960 by Luigi Segre (engineer and President of Ghia) and Arrigo Olivetti (a lawyer from the Fergat company). OSI subsequently established their headquarters in Turin, Italy, and was only in business for 8 total years, mainly focusing on the manufacturing of special vehicles mainly commissioned by Ghia, and also taking on a number of custom projects as well. The Silver Fox (shown here) was penned by Italian automotive designer, Sergio Sartorelli. The car was specifically created with the intention of entering it into the 1968 24 hours of Le Mans, however, after having a disappointing year financially in 1967, the project was subsequently canceled, leaving the Silver Fox to unfortunately never actually race. During testing however, the Silver Fox reached an impressive top speed of 155mph, placing it right underneath the world’s fastest cars in the world at the time. Another notable element of the Silver Fox is the fact that it features three wings, with the front wing being manually adjustable, the middle wing capable of being adjusted on the go, and a fixed rear wing. Simply put, this looks like something out of a sci-fi film, or even from outer space itself!
