In 2017 this was (and might still be) the world’s most expensive new car ($17.5M-$24M), the 2017 Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta (ZA9C820C110F76134). The ‘HP’ in the cars name stands for the companies founder, Horacio Pagani, and this variant of the Zonda was built to commemorate his 60th birthday. Ever since the first ever Pagani Zonda debuted at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show the model has seen numerous evolutions and improvements since it’s conception. It had always been a dream of Horacio’s to create a Zonda variant that was crafted to his own personal taste, and this is it. The HP Barchetta seeks to emulate that same emotion & spirit of a classic Barchetta racer envisioned through the Zonda model. Together, the Pagani team constructed this car to pay homage to Barchetta cars by implementing tartan canvas fabric on the interior that was inspired by championship winning racecars of one of Horacio’s early mentors, Juan Michael Fangio. Simply put, the Zonda HP Barchetta in Horacio’s own words is “My dream, My Zonda”. The HP Barchetta model was first ever shown to the public at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance, and this particular example was built specifically for Mr. Horacio Pagani’s 60th birthday,. The HP Barchetta weighs a total of just 2756lbs thanks to it’s fully exposed carbon fiber body which in this particular case is finished in ‘Blu Tricolore’ over a white and blue leather interior with tartan Mercedes W196 style inserts, which previously used to be full blue leather. The HP Barchetta is unique to any other Zonda being that it has multiple distinguishable features. One example are the rear wheel covers, which are inspired by group C racecars, and have never been used on any other Zonda ever before. The HP Barchetta borrows the same suspension from the Huayra BC & they actually have an identical power output of 789 horsepower.
