1993 Porsche 911 RS America

1993 Porsche 911 RS America

This is the unique and rare 1993 Porsche 911 RS America, finished in a beautiful shade of ‘Grand Prix White’. The 1993 RS America is considered a part of the 964 generation of the Porsche 911 model, which was produced from 1989 through 1994, and totaled over 63,000 total units being built across multiple different variants. The RS America variant in specific is a limited production model with only around 701 total units built for the entire world, and features a number of distinctive elements that truly make this car special. Options included on the RS America consist of a ‘whale tail’ wing, and a stripped down interior lacking common amenities such as cruise control, and air-conditioning, although some of those could be ordered as an option. This ‘stripped-down’ interior resulted in the car being 77 pounds lighter than the Carrera 2 on which it was based on, with a total weight of just about 2,954 pounds. The obvious goal behind the RS America was to create a lightweight 911 with minimal luxury options. The RS America is powered by a 3.6L air-cooled flat-six which produces about 247 horsepower. This allows the RS America to achieve top speeds of around 157mph, with 0-60mph taking just about 4.6 seconds. The name, ‘RS’ which stands for ‘Renn Sport’ or ‘Race Sport’ appeared on the sides of each car in the form of stickers, however, these stickers were shipped loose to dealers in the US, resulting in not every RS America to have the RS decals. Definitely a rarity to see out and about in the wild, with only 701 examples produced, and only a fraction of them painted in ‘Grand Prix White’. What do you think of the 1993 Porsche 911 RS America?
