The 997 GT2 debuted at the 62nd Frankfurt Motor Show and reached dealerships by November 2007. The 997 GT2 took on a more aggressive identity compared to the 997 Turbo, distinguished by its sharper front splitter, a custom rear wing with integrated side-mounted air channels, and a reworked rear bumper that showcased shark fin cutouts and lightweight titanium exhausts. Porsche’s renowned test driver, Walter Röhrl, later demonstrated the car’s formidable performance with a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap clocked at 7 minutes and 32 seconds during an open track day. The Porsche 997 GT2 is powered by a water-cooled, twin-turbocharged flat-6 engine with a displacement of 220 cubic inches. It produces 523 hp at 6,500 rpm and delivers 505 lb-ft of torque starting at 2,200 rpm, holding steady through 4,500 rpm thanks to its variable turbine geometry turbos. The braking system featured ventilated carbon ceramic discs with 6-piston aluminum calipers in the front and 4-piston calipers in the rear, all equipped with ABS.
