2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Rare is quite an understatement when it comes to this paint-to-sample Black 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997.2) from the collection of @autosbyhart! The 997.2 GT3 RS holds a unique position in Porsche’s history as the last naturally aspirated Mezger-engined RS and a car engineered to serve both as a road legal machine and a near competition-level tool for track use. Production for North America totaled 612 units, but the distribution of colors reveals the true scarcity within the model. Carrera White accounted for 223 cars, Grey Black for 286, and Aqua Blue Metallic for 57, while just 46 cars were ordered in Paint to Sample form. Of those, only 12 carried metallic finishes and 34 were non metallic, which immediately places these cars in a different realm of rarity when compared to the broader run. Among them are particularly interesting cases such as Paint to Sample black, which is fascinating because black itself was not an officially cataloged choice for the RS, meaning that the only way to secure it was through Porsche’s special-order program. This elevates examples like the one owned by @autosbyhart, who has previously held other GT3 RS models including a rare decal delete creme car, underscoring how nuanced specifications can give individual chassis their own historical weight. Beyond color and rarity, the 997.2 GT3 RS is a deeply technical evolution of its predecessor, featuring a 3.8 liter naturally aspirated flat six that produced 444 horsepower, a 15 horsepower increase achieved through revised engine architecture and optimized breathing, paired exclusively to a six speed manual transmission with close ratios designed to maximize engagement and response on circuit. The chassis was honed with stiffer suspension geometry, additional aerodynamic revisions including a larger rear wing and wider front track, and weight savings that further sharpened dynamics.
