2018 Helical Technologies TR Speed 12 Turbo

2018 Helical Technologies TR Speed 12 Turbo

This is the fascinating 2018 Helical Technologies TR Speed 12 Turbo, a modernized, and enhanced continuation of the iconic TVR Cerbera Speed 12. First founded in 1946 as Trevcar Motors, a company that is not discussed often enough is TVR. The British manufacturer of high-end sports cars that has produced some interesting models throughout the years, many of which we’ve discussed such as the one-off 2000 TVR Cerbera Speed 12 & the 1997 TVR Project 7/12. This car shown here was actually developed by a team of former TVR engineers, and is of course inspired by the surreal TVR Cerbera Speed 12 which was deemed ‘too unsafe for public roads’ during development. The TR Speed 12 Turbo shares a similar design with the original Cerbera Speed 12 from over 20 years ago, but now utilizing modern day carbon chassis and bodywork. TR Supercars, which is not to be confused at all with TVR themselves, and Lancashire-based Helical Technologies (@heltec.uk) developed this project in order to make a more refined Cerbera Speed 12 with even further technological & performance developments. The Speed 12 Turbo was developed to use a fully customizable driving and handling set and allows drivers to be able to drive on either the track or the road. The Speed 12 features carbon-ceramic brakes, center-locking wheels, and a wild titanium exhaust system, which all allows this car to be an absolutely visceral machine. The original Cerbera Speed 12 was a Peter Wheeler creation, who was a chemical engineer that owned the TVR company for 23 years, and this car is a great honor to his work. The Speed 12 Turbo shown here was designed by @speed12turbo, Chris Stallard, and built by ex-TVR Head of Design, Darren Hobbs and ex-TVR CAD department head, Tom Blount.

How many made? The project began with modifying an Orange factory TVR GT racer. From there, the team built this car (the first finished Speed 12), a second LHD example, and at the time of this writing, a third is in the process of being built.
