1992 Vector W8

1992 Vector W8

This is the 1992 Vector W8 Twin Turbo (chassis 008) finished in pearlescent white with gold-coloring, and interestingly this is 1 of 2 Vector W8s to carry a 008 chassis designation. The W8 utilizes a semi-aluminum monocoque chassis with a body made largely of lightweight carbon fiber and Kevlar, a 6.0 L twin-turbocharged transversely mounted Rodeck V8, a modified Turbo-Hydramatic 425 General Motors three-speed automatic, a futuristic interior with eye-catching instrumentation more! The Vector Motors Corporation was first founded in 1971 by American automotive engineer and businessman, Gerald Wiegert, where it was then simply a design house called Vehicle Design Force. Later on, the company name was changed to Vector Aeromotive, and subsequently, a number of wedge-shape cars would begin production across multiple different variants. While the car was designed by chief designer, Gerald Wiegert, the fine touches and refinements were handled by Vector’s head of engineering, David Kostka. Throughout production, the W8 cars received subtle changes along the way, ensuring that no two cars would be alike. Elements such as the elimination of gills, rear wing adjustments and more were just some of the ways Vector W8s changed over the years. This particular W8 was actually the 1992 Geneva Motor Show car as well as being the car featured in a 1992 issue of @roadandtrack. After spending two decades in Japan with a private owner, the car was recently resurrected/sold by @auto_sportiva and @a_h_gmbh with these photos here being taken by @umerrnasirr. Reminiscing back to the 1992 Geneva show, this exact car was shown on display that year next to the silver 1992 Vector WX3 prototype.
