This exciting car shown here is the 1991 Zender Fact 4 Spider, the follow-up to the companies Fact 4 coupe model of the late 80s. To begin, we have to time travel back to the year 1989, when a man named Hans-Albert Zender founded a sole proprietorship under the name “HAZ”. Working out of a small garage in Bassenheim near Koblenz, Zender began by producing custom-made bucket seats, and later, after gaining popularity, began producing a number of different automotive parts. Zender wanted to produce more than just parts, so, after building up a solid reputation and standing, he then began to craft a number of concept cars. In 1979 Zender moved facilities to Mülheim-Kärlich, Germany, and by 1983, he would have created his first ever 1:1 scale concept, the Vision 1. Following this concept came a number of others (1S, 2, 3, and 3C) most of which have been featured on @rarecarsonly! To create all of these prototypes, Zender worked with the very talented designer by the name of Günther Zillner. In 1989, Zender introduced a very special model known as the Zender Fact 4. The result of their hard work was truly a major aerodynamic and technological achievement, and featured many unprecedented design elements and features. For example, the body of the car was composed of materials originally used in aeronautics, which is obviously not typical for an automobile. The Zender Fact 4 was not originally planned to ever go into production, but was rather built instead as a demonstration vehicle to show off their engineering capabilities. Günther Zillner took inspiration from the famous Lamborghini Countach for the design of the Fact 4, and it’s evident with its retro wedge-shape styling. The Fact 4 utilizes a carbon fiber monocoque and bodyz The Spider variant of the Fact 4 was produced in 1991, known as the Fact 4 Spider, and this model instead used a tubular steel chassis and a 250hp naturally aspirated Audi 3.6-liter V8 engine.
