For sale! This is the one-off 1993 Porsche 911 RS America Brumos 20th Anniversary Edition. In the 1950s, Brundage Motors Inc. was founded by Hubert Brundage, who played a pivotal role in introducing the Volkswagen and Porsche brands to America alongside friend and investor, Glenn H. Curtiss II. By 1954 the company had seven dealers and were quite successful. The Brumos (BRUndage MOtorS) Porsche Car Corporation was set up as a Porsche retailer and distributor in 1959, and by the year 1964, the empire would expand to work with 60 VW dealers and 38 Porsche dealers. After Brundage’s unfortunate passing in 1964, much of the business handled by Porsche distributor, Johnny Von Neumann. The dealership portion of Brumos was later acquired by American race car driver, Peter Gregg. Gregg was a four-time winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona from 1973-1978. During this time, Gregg and American race car driver Hurley Haywood popularized the red, white and blue livery. Gregg remained in-charge of the Brumos dealership operations from 1966 until 1980, and Von Neumann retained the distributorship sector until 1969. In 1980, when Gregg passed away, his wife Deborah continued the business, and Dan Davis (Winn-Dixie Davis family) took over the dealership in 1990. Sports car racing guru Bob Snodgras was brought in to serve as President and CEO of Brumos Racing. In 2007, Davis took over full control of Brumos. The racing program came to an end in 2013, and the dealer followed in 2015. Davis keeps the Brumos name alive today with @thebrumoscollection museum. This car was built by Brumos in 1993 as a 20th anniversary tribute of their overall win at Daytona in 1973 and 20 years of the Carrera RS model. This is the world’s only 964 customer car built by Brumos. This car was originally constructed in 06/1992 as a standard RS America, and Brumos enhanced it with a Cup Car exhaust system, a ducktail wing, the removal of some components (AC, radio, heat, rear seats), an RSR engine and transmission, plus the iconic livery.
