When Alfa Romeo decides to make something special, they certainly go all out, and the one-off 2006 Alfa Romeo Diva shown here is a perfect example of that. The design for this intriguing concept was created with inspiration from the iconic Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, and was crafted under a collaborative effort which included Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, Fiat Group's research center, Elasis, and the Espera design school led by Franco Sbarro. The design work was lead by a talented car designer from Germany named Wolfgang Egger for Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, and also Espera Sbarro of the Sbarro motor company. The design itself was done by Zbigniew Maurer, and @manudiaz74 of Centro Stile Alfa Romeo. The fully-functional Diva was built based on a heavily modified chassis from an Alfa Romeo 159, and was assembled in Arese, Milan, Italy by Carrozzeria Granturismo. The Diva features an interior which is both spacious and functional and consists of materials such as steel, aluminum, and leather. The interior was also built to be very much race-inspired with features such as four-point harnesses, Carbon fiber seats, and even a digital gauge display, all on a concept car! Also notable is the pretense of a fabricated aluminium double-wishbone suspension setup, and a variable exhaust system which has the capability of changing the car’s exhaust note. Clearly, there was a decent amount of technology and functionality implemented into the Diva project, however, like almost all concept cars, the Diva remains to be an untold story, and never advanced further than the conceptual stage of development. Nevertheless, the singular Diva concept, equipped with a Momo steering wheel, OZ Racing wheels and Brembo brakes, is simply one of the most interesting machines to wear an Alfa Romeo badge!
