1985 Aston Martin V8 Zagato

1985 Aston Martin V8 Zagato

One of the most iconic collaborations of all time amongst the entire automotive industry is when Zagato & Aston Martin come together to create a car. We’ve seen beautiful examples of both new and old cars created by the two companies and each time they come together on a project, it always seems to be perfect. This is another example of a time where Zagato and Aston Martin came together to create a beautiful piece of machinery. This is the one of just 89 total Aston Martin V8 Zagatos built, chassis number 20011. This specific V8 Zagato is significantly more rare and important that basically every other V8 Zagato made. This 1985 Aston Martin V8 Zagato is one of four of the original prototype chassis. Chassis 20010-20013 were all finished in this striking ‘Gladiator Red’ livery, and all received an enhanced V8 engine tuned to Vantage specifications. These four cars had an increased power output of 432bhp at 6,200rpm while the other 85 cars had a power output of just 410bhp. Chassis number 20011 shown here, is also one of just two V8 Zagatos fitted with an integral roll-over bar. The car was Professionally restored to concours standard between 2011 and 2013 and was subsequently invited to the Concorso Eleganza Villa d'Este in 2016. Overall, the Aston Martin V8 Zagato is rare no matter which of the 89 cars it is, however, when it comes to these special 4 early-production cars, such as 20011 shown here, there’s just simply no comparison.

How many made? Just 89 total V8 Zagatos were produced including the four early production cars with the enhanced V8 Vantage 432bhp engine. 51 coupes and 38 convertibles. Chassis 20011 is one of just 4 of its kind.
