1986 Aston Martin V8 Zagato

1986 Aston Martin V8 Zagato

This is perhaps one of the most interesting Aston Martin automobiles we’ve ever came across, all thanks to the many unique and interesting cars that are always passing through @autosportdesigns. This, is an incredibly rare (1 of 52) 1986 Aston Martin V8 Zagato (chassis 036). This example is finished in ‘Pastello Bianca’ (155585) and was first completed on June 24th of 1987. The interior of this car is simply magical, with dark blue trim (505) and dark blue carpets, mixed in with Light Grey Alcantara (4082). If you have not ever heard of the V8 Zagato, the model made its first ever debut appearance during the 1986 Geneva Motor show. The V8 Zagato got its attractive and peculiar styling from Giuseppe Mittino from the Italian coach building and design company, Zagato. The Aston Martin V8 Zagato featured a bold, angular look that contrasted sharply with the brand’s traditional style, drawing from Zagato’s Italian design roots. The model itself was built based upon the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and the new design was a sharp, modern take on the 1960s Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato. With an all-alloy body, the V8 Zagato is capable of around 186 mph top speed, and was equipped with a 430 bhp V8 engine featuring twin choke Weber carburetors. The interior was minimalist yet upscale, with certain models showcasing special details like walnut accents and a unique three-spoke Nardi steering wheel for a distinctive touch. Adding an element of practicality, the car’s bucket seats could tilt forward, offering easy access to a rear storage area—an uncommon feature in high-performance cars of its era. The Aston Martin V8 Zagato was available with both manual and automatic transmission options. The manual variant came with a rare ZF 5-speed gearbox, paired with a limited-slip differential to improve handling and traction. In total, just 52 total coupe examples, and 37 convertibles were produced over the course of 4 years from 1986 until 1990.
