This is the 2021 Aston Martin Valhalla Concept Car, a glimpse of the model that is set to enter production. The Valhalla model’s origins trace back to 2019, when Aston Martin showcased a concept car at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show called the AM-RB 003. The Aston Martin AM-RB 003, later named the Valhalla, was a significant step in the brand’s mid-engine strategy. This supercar, developed in collaboration with Red Bull Racing, showcased a design heavily influenced by Formula 1 aerodynamics while being tailored for real-world usability. Positioned between the Valkyrie hypercar and more traditional Aston Martin models, it aims to emphasize the blend of extreme performance with road-going practicality. The work-in -progress design, which is being developed by both Miles Nurnberger and Adrian Newey is constantly evolving, and in July of 2021, Aston Martin revealed a new version of their Valhalla at the British Grand Prix. The originally planned twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine, introduced in March 2020, has been replaced with plans for a 4.0 L Mercedes-AMG M178 LS2 twin-turbocharged V8 positioned in the rear-mid section. Aston Martin’s choice of “Valhalla” as the name for its supercar continues its tradition of “V”-themed monikers, while also drawing from Norse mythology, where Valhalla is the legendary hall for heroic warriors in the afterlife. The Valhalla will feature a chassis which is a refined version of the Valkyrie model’s carbon fiber monocoque, with the body panels also constructed from the same advanced material, enhancing both structural integrity and lightweight performance. In August of 2024, spy shots captured at the Nürburgring reveal a track-focused AMR version of the Valhalla, featuring aerodynamic enhancements such as a larger front splitter, new side intakes, and a massive rear wing, all designed to improve performance and achieve quicker lap times.
