This one is interesting. With already having covered the (1 of 4) 1990 Bugatti EB110 ‘A2’ prototype (chassis 39001) & the (1 of 1 of 5) 2001 Dauer Bugatti EB110 Super Sport Light Weight (chassis 7598), let’s take a look at another variant of the famous Bugatti EB110, the 1994 Bugatti EB110 Rinspeed Cyan Concept. The EB110 was first introduced by Bugatti as a production ready example in 1991. With many variants, prototypes, and concepts it can be hard to keep track of this machine. Production of the EB110 lasted until 1995 with around 139 total units produced, however, some unused chassis were given to companies such as Dauer Sportwagen, B Engineering, and Brabus in order to modify. Only around 128 examples of the EB110 were completed when Bugatti filed for bankruptcy in the late 90’s and the remaining unused parts were used to create a series of continuation cars. Before all of this, the first company to experiment with modifying an EB110 was Rinspeed Inc., an innovative Swiss concept car builder and mobility visionary. The Rinspeed EB110 Cyan Concept itself was based on the GT variant specifically chassis ‘GT 051’. The car is finished in ‘Bugatti Blue’, with a dual tone light grey/blue leather interior. This new one-off variant of the EB110 now featured revised aerodynamics, new three-piece BBS aluminum wheels, and an updated interior featuring a Nokia 2110 mobile phone and a Nackamichi stereo system. The singular Cyan prototype was tested by Formula 1 driver, Jochen Mass and resulted in impressive performance capabilities that matched it’s eccentric redesign. The Cyan’s most unique features include the modified exhaust system by the Remus company, and newly fitted aluminum panels on the interior developed by Austrian Burg Design, which is reminiscent of pre-war Bugattis. The word ‘Cyan’ originates from the Greek language & the word 'kuanos', meaning blue.
How many made? Only one EB110 was modified by Rinspeed. This is a 1 of 1.
