2019 Bugatti La Voiture Noire

2019 Bugatti La Voiture Noire

A true masterpiece. This is the absolutely spectacular 2019 Bugatti La Voiture Noire, which translates directly to ‘The Black Car’ in English. This special project car was built to celebrate Bugatti’s 110th anniversary, and pays homage to the forever-legendary 1936 Type 57 Atlantic, to which only 4 were completed between 1936-1938 and only 3 exist to this day. The lost example was actually also known as La Voiture Noire as was driven by Jean Bugatti personally, son of the companies founder Ettore Bugatti. This brilliant one-off creation was crafted by one of Bugatti’s highly skilled designers/artists, Etienne Salomé. Based on his work as CEO of Lamborghini, when Mr. Stephan Winkelmann took over as Bugatti CEO in January of 2018, it was definitely expected that at least a few special one-off projects would come to life under the Bugatti brand. While it’s clear that La Voiture Noire is related to the Bugatti Chiron, which is quite normal in comparison, many unprecedented aerodynamic & sculptural qualities have been implemented on Bugatti’s one-off master piece. Mechanically, the one-off is identical to the Chiron, but exteriorly, this car benefits from design elements such as six exhaust pipes, an elongated nose & rear section, unique wing mirrors & wheels, and oh, did we mention it’s also one of the world’s most expensive cars...ever? One of the most interesting aspects to this model is the fact that it’s not just Bugatti’s most expensive car ever, but also one of the most expensive cars in the entire world, with a price of $12.3 million & $18.68 million after tax. In the early beginnings of ‘coach-building’, an automaker would construct a powertrain & chassis and then collaborate with a customer & independent shop to create a bespoke body. As you can see with this unique creation, Bugatti has taken the historic practice of coach-building in-house by creating a unique creation that will forever remain a singular unit.
