2005 Cadillac Villa by Bertone

2005 Cadillac Villa by Bertone

You are looking at the one-of-a-kind 2005 Cadillac Villa by Bertone, and it’s a project that was absolutely packed with a number of wonderfully fascinating design elements & features which all seemed out-of-this-world at the time. The Villa was a design study created in a collaborative effort between both Italian automobile company, Bertone, which specializes in car styling, coachbuilding alongside the Cadillac Motor Car Division. This Bertone-designed Cadillac was constructed using a bespoke chassis that is similar to the Cadillac SRX, and demonstrates a plethora of technological innovation, seemingly utilizing more glass than metal overall. The car was designed with absolutely no boundaries with an emphasis on not following traditional rules when it comes to building automobiles, thus explaining the interesting door situation. The Villa’s door panels were constructed using laminated glass with triple curvature by Finnlamex, and reveal a ‘grand entrance’ to the interior (also called the crystal bubble) by way of three hydraulically commanded arms. The interior is a minimalist design with most of the attention going towards quality and not quantity. Inside you’ll find a highly advanced 23” video screen developed by Bose. The front seats are slim and trimmed in leather, while the rear seats are designed as a sofa. Also in the rear, you’ll see two ‘suspended’ monitors behind both the driver and passenger seat, which are operable by way of a virtual keyboard located in the central armrest. Another notable feature is the tailor-made audio system developed by Bose, which gives passengers a ‘surround sound’ experience throughout the cabin. The list of design elements and features goes on and on, and we can only assume that this design and idea was far too unconventional to ever be considered for mass-production. What do you think of this interesting take on a futuristic Cadillac passenger vehicle?
