1993 Chevrolet Corvette Callaway SuperNatural Convertible

1993 Chevrolet Corvette Callaway SuperNatural Convertible

This car shown here is 1 of just 20 total examples built by American specialty vehicle manufacturer and engineering company, Callaway Cars Inc. for the 1993 model year, of which only 9 of those 20 cars were convertible examples like this one, and only 4 of which were built without the Series 1 Aerobody kit. This is the incredibly rare 1993 Chevrolet Corvette Callaway SuperNatural Convertible, essentially, a standard 4th generation Corvette Convertible which was sent in period to Callaway Cars of Old Lyme, Connecticut for a ‘SuperNatural treatment’, which included an extensive list of modifications that only a very limited number of examples received. The 4th generation of the Chevrolet Corvette was produced from 1983 until 1996, and the model was designed by retired automotive designer, Jerry Palmer while working under automotive engineer for General Motors, Dave McLellan, who served as the chief engineer for the Corvette model from 1975 until 1992. The 4th generation Corvette was available as either a 2-door targa top or a 2-door convertible, and offered a completely new chassis and design in comparison to the previous generation. New, and standard for the C4 Vette was an electronic dashboard with a digital liquid crystal display instrument cluster. For the 1993 model year, Chevrolet developed approximately 21,590 Corvettes, however, only 20 of those cars would be modified by Callaway to the specifications shown here. Even less, just 9 of those being convertibles, and only 4, including this car, to not feature the aerodynamic body kit provided by Callaway, making it one of the rarest of the bunch. Some unique elements include Callaway Corvette badging, dual quad-tip exhausts, a black leather interior, an upgraded camshaft and exhaust system, along with ported and polished intake manifolds.

How many made? 1 of 20 Corvette examples modified by Callaway in 1993, 1 of 19 manual examples built that year, 1 of 9 Convertibles, and 1 of 4 Convertibles to not feature the Callaway body kit
