This is the 2006 Faralli & Mazzanti (F & M) Auto Antas V8 GT. Mazzanti Automobili (originally founded as Faralli & Mazzanti) is an Italian company that has been handcrafting high-performance cars since 2002. Founders Luca Mazzanti & Walter Faralli are the initials behind the F & M name, although as of 2010, the duo split up, resulting in the creation of Mazzanti Automobili and Faralli Restauri. The Antas V8 GT was F&M’s first ‘Berlinetta’ car created in their workshops and was developed during a time that the group was still working together. The body of the Auto Antas V8 GT is built entirely by hand using aluminum, and the idea behind the Antas prototype was to revive methods, craftsmanship, and attitudes of the Italian coachbuilders of the 1930s-1960s, brought into the present day. In 2006 when F&M was planning to produce this vehicle, they wanted to get the customer involved as much as possible. The price for an Antas V8 GT was said to be around $800,000 to order new, and customers were encouraged to visit the F & M atelier to watch the progress of their cars being built. Each delivery was planned to include a celebration, a DVD, and a photo album of the entire project being built from start to finish, which was estimated to take about a year. The name ‘Antas’ is derived from the ancient Tuscan language of the Etrsucans, which means ‘Eagle’, the most noble and audacious dominator of open spaces. The Auto Antas V8 GT was also featured in the 2008 film, ‘Speed Racer’.
How many made? In total, it’s believed that the company developed as many as 4 total examples, with this being the first built. There is another example believed to located in the Middle East, and at least two further examples were under construction, but it’s not clear as to if they were ever finished.
