1989 Ferrari F40 ‘Competizione’

1989 Ferrari F40 ‘Competizione’

This car shown here is chassis number ZFFGJ34B000080782, the one-off 1989 Ferrari F40 ‘Competizione’, finished in triple-layer ‘Grigio Nardo’ paint, over a contrasting interior featuring electric blue fabric seats. With only approximately 1,315 examples produced from 1987 until 1992, the F40 is not only just a rare Ferrari, but also the very last Ferrari to ever be given full approval from Italian motor racing driver, and founder of the Ferrari company, Enzo Ferrari. As for this car shown here, chassis 80782 was originally purchased as an early road car, and was delivered new into the Netherlands in 1989 by official Ferrari dealer, Kroymans BV. By the year 1993, this example would receive a ‘Competizione’ racing conversion which was completed by Peter van Erp of Cavallino Tuning. Following this work, chassis 80782 was subsequently sold to Dutch Racing Promotions, where the car would be raced during the 1993 & 1994 seasons. In 1995, the car was even more extensively modified, this time with work being carried out by UK-based G-Tex (Will Gollop) in collaboration with Michelotto Automobili. The car was again further modified in the late 1990’s, now by David Hart, in preparation to participate in the Ferrari/Porsche Challenge. In 1997, the car was sold to Ferrari collector and racing driver, Michel Oprey, who commissioned even more mechanical work, which took place from 1997 until 1998. From here, the car was raced until 2006, and again with a UK-based racing team until 2009. After it’s racing days, chassis 80782 was fully serviced by Elias Elia of Autofficina in 2019, with a full cosmetic restoration, and mechanical servicing taking place subsequently at the Zanasi Group of Maranello, Italy, which is where this car received this wonderful grey paint as well.
