Perhaps one of the most fascinating Ferraris of all time, the captivating 1989 Ferrari Mythos (s/n EAG026) concept car, the same one that was revealed during Japan's Makuhari Messe convention in October 26th of 1989. The Mythos was designed by Pietro Camardella under the watchful eye of Lorenzo Ramaciotti under Italian car design firm and coachbuilder, Pininfarina S.p.A., and was thought out to resemble to styling of the 1960s dream car era with a modernized look. The Mythos was based on a Ferrari Testarossa chassis & in comparison, the redesigned Mythos is three inches lower, around five inches wider & six inches shorter overall than the donor car. On the exterior, you’ll find unique touches such as an integrated active rear spoiler, & large side intakes. On the interior, there are two leather-wrapped seats finished in red, with six-point harnesses and integrated headrests. Originally, the Mythos was simply just a styling exercise created by Pininfarina, but unsurprisingly, the car caught the attention of a few curious collectors. One of these collectors was Japanese businessman, Shiro Kosaka, who was an admirer of Italian cars & already owned a number of Pininfarina projects. After two years of convincing, Kosaka was able to purchase the original Mythos concept car shown here. The car was also seen displayed at the Gallery Abarth Museum in the foothills of Mount Fuji before being permanently closed in the mid-2000’s. Another interesting group of collectors was also attracted to the Mythos, the royal family of Brunei. At least three other Mythos examples were sent to the massive & mysterious car collection in Brunei, one painted red & another in turquoise, and a black example. The ‘Brunei’ examples feature conventional side mirrors, a different windscreen, redesigned pop-up headlights, & a removable top, and perhaps some other interesting and unique features.
