1991 Ferrari F40

1991 Ferrari F40

This car shown here is an unbelievably sought-after 1991 Ferrari F40, chassis ZFFGJ34B000089121. With only approximately 1,315 examples produced from 1987 until 1992, the F40 is not only just a rare Ferrari, but also the very last Ferrari to ever be given full approval from Italian motor racing driver, and founder of the Ferrari company, Enzo Ferrari. As the last model Enzo Ferrari himself ever played a role in, and a 40th anniversary celebration for the company, the F40 fills a special place in many automotive enthusiasts hearts as being one of the most iconic Ferraris to ever be built. The F40 was engineered by Italian mechanical engineer, Nicola Materazzi, and was designed by the very talented Italian stylist, Pietro Camardella for Italian coach building and design company Pininfarina under the supervision of the chief stylist with Carrozzeria Pininfarina (1974-1988), Aldo Brovarone. When the F40 model was shown to the public during the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show, a production run of just 400 examples was the initial plan, but due to demand, this number of course increased significantly. When the F40 first arrived, it quickly became Ferrari’s most expensive, fastest, and most powerful model available for sale. Some of the F40 development such as the bodywork was handled by outside companies including the very well-known Michelotto Automobili (in Padua). This particular F40 example shown here is a European-specification car and assembly for this specific car began in March of 1991. Chassis number 89121 was built with an adjustable suspension, allowing the driver to adjust ride height based on conditions on the road, a catalyst-specification engine, and glass roll-up windows. This F40 was officially completed in April of 1991 and was subsequently delivered to Ferrari Deutschland GmbH in Germany.
