2002 Ferrari Enzo GT MC12/MC12 GT1 Monza Test Car

2002 Ferrari Enzo GT MC12/MC12 GT1 Monza Test Car

The Ferrari Enzo is a model that debuted in 2002 & is of course named after Enzo himself, and today the Ferrari Enzo remains to be one of the most iconic both Ferraris and Automobiles of all time. Of course, before any car sees production, it must go through various stages of development consisting of concepts, prototypes, & more, but this is probably the most awesome development car of all time. This is the 2002 Ferrari Enzo GT MC12/MC12 GT1 Monza Test Car. In the early 2000’s Ferrari/Maserati created three prototype test mules, one of which was crash-tested & destroyed, another was crashed while testing on the track, and one which still exists to the day, this car. While this car was also initially being used to test out future developments on the Enzo model itself, it would later be used as a prototype test-unit for the Maserati MC12/MC12 GT1 drivetrain, which was actually based on the Ferrari Enzo. Under the direction of Giorgio Ascanelli, technical director of Maserati in the early 2000’s, Maserati/Ferrari began testing what would later become the MC12/MC12 GT1 mechanically under an extremely raw-looking Enzo body. This car was tested in the summer of 2003 on the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza circuit & was driven by Italian professional racing driver Andrea Bertolini. Tests were conducted with stints of 5-6 laps of course alternating with pit stops. This test car mainly implemented test-only design features such as a massive FIA GT1 style rear wing, and additional large radiator underneath the wing, no front or rear lights, Speedline wheels, and a menacing matte black finish.
