2008 Ferrari 599 GTZ Nibbio

2008 Ferrari 599 GTZ Nibbio

This very special car shown here is a 2008 Ferrari 599 GTZ Nibbio by Zagato, and it’s 1 of just 9 total examples built by one of Italy’s most respected coach builders, Zagato. In the year 2007, a number of customers reached out to Zagato to create a bespoke line of cars based on the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano (F141) platform, of which approximately 3,500 examples were produced in standard form. The standard 599 GTB was styled by American automobile designer, Jason Castriota, under the legendary Italian design studio, Carrozzeria Pininfarina. The ‘599’ derives from the car’s 5,999cc (6.0L) F140 C/CE V12 engine. As for this unique creation, a select number of customers had the choice between either Coupè or Spyder coachwork, and in the end, 9 Coupè examples total were constructed. The 599 GTZ Nibbio has instantly recognizable Zagato design cues, and this particular example shown here, chassis 4893 is finished in bespoke liquid black paintwork with a beige leather interior. Aside from the obvious extensive exterior redesign, the Nibbio GTZ retains most of the mechanics and basic technology of the originally 599 donor car. The interior is dressed with new leather upholstery and the seats include embroidered Zagato logos in the headrests, but other than that, the cabin is mostly unchanged. The exterior on the other hand is radically different, with one of the only remaining similarities left over being the windshield, Zagato’s craftsmanship shines through in the form of a redesigned front grill, which includes an oval, barred air intake that is reminiscent of Ferrari racing cars from the 1950s and 60s, and two additional air inlets on either side as well. This particular example was built in November of 2008 as a standard 599, and later received it’s bespoke carbon fiber bodywork by Zagato.
