2020 Ferrari Monza SP1

2020 Ferrari Monza SP1

The perfect car for the holidays! Perhaps this 2020 Ferrari Monza SP1 in finished in a stunning shade of ‘Verde Kers’ photographed by the talented @zjf.photography! The Ferrari Monza SP1 is clearly a visually stunning automobile, and a quite rare one, considering between the Monza SP1 & SP2, only 499 total examples are being produced for the world. Introduced at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, both the Ferrari SP1 & SP2 represent a new beginning for Ferrari with the ‘Icona Series’. The Icona Series will consist of new special project cars that take inspiration from Ferrari’s most iconic classics & are to be produced in limited numbers only. The Monza SP1 (shown here) is a fixed single-seater, while the SP2 offers both seats for the interior. Mechanically both the SP1 & SP2 are identical & Ferrari claims this model is one of the most powerful V12 road cars they have ever produced. Based on the underpinnings on the 812 SuperFast, both cars are powered by a naturally aspirated 6,496 cc (6.5 L) F140 GA V12 engine that produces 10hp more than the 812 with a total of 799hp. The SP2 (3,351lb), with it’s second seat does weigh slightly more than the SP1 (3,306lb), however performance is not heavily effected, and both models can accelerate from 0-60mph in around 2.9 seconds with a top speed of about 186mph. The SP1 & SP2 were designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre under the watchful eye of Ferrari design chief Flavio Manzoni. The SP1 in specific received the Compasso d’Oro industrial design award in 2020, the world’s oldest industrial design award. Elements like the small scissor doors and the utilization of a ‘Virtual Windshield’ that deviates airflow from the driver in replace of a standard windshield are just some of the SP1’s unique design features
