This beautiful machine shown here is a very rare 2008 Honda S2000 CR (Club Racer), 1 of just around 1500 total examples produced, with only around half of those being sold into the United States. The AP1 S2000 was produced from 1999 until 2003 and was then followed by the significantly different AP2 from 2004 until 2009. Between both variants, around 66,860 total S2000s were built for the US market alone, with approximately 110,000+ total units produced for the world. In order to celebrate Honda’s 50th anniversary, the production-ready Honda S2000 eventually made it’s world debut on April 15th of 1999. The styling is credited to automotive designer, Daisuke Sawai (1996), and Japanese automotive engineer Shigeru Uehara over the course of the models lifetime (1999-2009). Considering this example shown here was built for the 2008 model year, this car is internally designated as an AP2 Honda S2000, which was the designation given to all Honda S2000 examples developed from 2004 until 2009. With the introduction of the AP2 came a redesigned suspension, Bridgestone RE-050 tires with 17” wheels, carbon fiber synchronizers in the gearbox, and a number of cosmetic changes including revised front and rear bumpers, new LED tail lights, and much more. In total, it’s said that just 3,581 examples of the Honda S2000 were developed for the 2008 model year (668 CRs) consisting of 2,538 US-market cars, 709 European-market cars, 1,228 Japanese- market cars, and 65 Canadian-market cars. The CR was developed as a track-oriented variation of the S2000, and features much fewer amenities, extensive weight reduction, a revised exhaust system, a stiffer suspension, and a number of other characteristics that allow you differentiate a CR model from a normal S2000. This particular CR is finished in ‘Berlina Black’ over black Alcantara sports seats with yellow inserts.
